At this time of year Kaweah drops to its lowest levels in preparation for winter rains and runoff. As a result, the lake is sitting at 9 percent of its storage capacity and fishing is fair. Bass anglers used their electronics to look for submerged rock piles, humps, and bluffs. Spotted bass were enticed by small finesse baits on a slow retrieve. Deep diving cranks baits were a good way to entice the bigger largemouth. Crappie held in 10 to 20 feet of water on main lake points. Minijigs and small live minnows took fish. Catfish were reliable for anglers soaking live worms and cut baits on the bottom.
