With the cooler temperatures, the rainbow trout fishing at Donner Lake has been good. The lake was stocked as recently as a month ago, but there are still plenty of fish to be caught. Using Powerbait and worms off the bottom is the way to go right now, with fish ranging from 12 to 16 inches. The best fishing at Donner Lake is by the west end boat ramp. Trolling for mackinaw trout has been slow here, but the kokanee bite has been good in 40 feet of water. The kokanee are averaging 12 to 13 inches. As of now, Donner Lake is at 84% capacity.
