Kaweah is sitting at 100 percent of its storage capacity, and fishing has been decent. Bass anglers used Senko style baits and finesse baits to score bites, but fishing has been hit-or-miss all spring. If the water level remains stable fishing could improve. Biting bass held in the 5 to 20 foot zone with brown, dark green, and baitfish colored 3 to 6” soft plastics getting the most attention. Crappie have been a reliable alternative in the Horse Creek area with fish holding in the newly submerged brush. Minijigs, small swimbaits, and small live minnows all worked for bites. Catfish anglers used dip baits, cut anchovies, and chicken liver to fool whisker fish.
