In the Upper Kern, the DFWL stocked all three sections of the 20-mile stretch this week. The trout fishing has been steady for anglers fishing the slower eddies and deep pools around bends with salmon eggs, trout jigs and spinners. The Upper Kern River was stocked this week in Section 4, Powerhouse #3 to Riverside Park in Kernville; Section 5, Fairview Dam to Lazy River Lodge, and Section 6, Fairview Dam to Johnsondale Bridge. In the Lower Kern, trout have been coming out all throughout the canyon. Democrat has been producing the best numbers. Trout jigs, salmon eggs and spinners have all been scoring fish. The smallmouth and largemouth bass action is very good right now with jigs, worms, and small crankbaits. Catfish have been chewing cut sardines and SSS Dip Bait. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River is flowing at 2584 CFS and the Lower Kern River is flowing at 2106 CFS.
