In the Upper Kern we continue to get good reports of steady trout action. The 20-mile stretch of the Upper Kern is loaded with trout and remains one of the best bets. Anglers are scoring fish with salmon eggs, crickets, and trout jigs. Anywhere there is easy access to the river would be a good section to fish. Next week the Upper Kern will be stocked in Section 5 and 6. The Lower Kern River flows are low, and many areas are easily accessible. Next week, the DFWL have scheduled trout plants for all three sections of the Lower Kern River. The following sections are on the list; Section 1, Democrat Beach to Lower Richbar; Section 2 Sandy Flat to Democrat Beach; and Section 3, Sandy Flat to Isabella Dam. The Lower Kern bass bite is fair on crankbaits, jigs, and spinners. Catfish can be found on dip baits, nightcrawlers and cut baits. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 433 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 307 CFS.
