The water flows have increased a bit in the Upper Kern over the last couple days but remains ideal for fishing. The DFWL stocked all three sections of the 20-mile stretch of the Upper Kern this week. Anglers have been scoring limits of trout from Riverside Park in Kernville to Johnsondale Bridge with salmon eggs, minijigs, spinners and pinched crawlers. It’s been two weeks since the last plant in the Lower Kern, but trout continue to come out. Trout have been coming on salmon eggs, trout jigs, GULP! pinched crawlers and garlic scented Powerbait. The Bass action is solid and can be found throughout the Lower Kern with Get Bent Baits, Senkos, jigs, and spinners. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River was flowing at 438 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 425 CFS.
