The Lake reopened to some light rain, overcast and some wind but ended up with mild temperatures and partially cloudy skies by the afternoon. Water temperature taken at the Marina was 52 degrees at surface and 46 degrees at the 20 foot mark. Water clarity was good to 10 feet and there was no visible debris. Lake level looks to be at least 15 feet below spill and in a holding pattern.
BANK FISHING ---- Pardee Lake Recreation Inc. opened for fishing at 12: 01 am Friday morning and fishing and the bite was on immediately, limits were the rule rather than the exception. The hot spots were the Launch Ramp, Rainbow Point, Tom Sawyer Island and the bank behind the EBMUD Boathouse. Sliding sinker set ups were the most successful but some good fish were taken on silver/blue Kastmasters. Yellow power bait and night crawlers have been the best working baits from the shore. There were two tagged fish caught Friday, if you get one check with the Marina, the tag color determines the prize.
TROLLERS----Trolling best at the Narrows, the face of the Dam, the River mouth and upstream. No need to go deep, the fish are congregating in 5 to 15 feet of water. Lots using lead core with small lures with a scented night crawler. Lots of low areas watch for hazards to navigation.
RECENT SUCCESS STRORIES---Ward Sheldon of Sacramento got this monster 14.53 lb Rainbow Trout bank fishing in the Rec. Area. Robert Cooper of Citrus Heights got this 7 lb Rainbow using a Kastmaster also in the Rec. Area. Ken Kadlubowski and two unnamed compadres from San Jose Rainbow Point got these three beautiful limits in short order using power bait from Rainbow Point. Jim Ray got this 8.92 lb Rainbow with power bait at Rainbow Point also..
There have been numerous off-season plants by California Fish and Game totaling 7,000 lbs. Pardee Lake Inc planted another 4000 lbs. today with more scheduled for the weekend.
