Changes due in the weather. It's been overcast here for the last two days and the forecast is calling for a good soaking Saturday. No rain expected Sunday, a chance of light rain next week with temperatures in mid 70's low 80's. Lake level dropped another foot to almost 20 feet below spill. This is as low as the lake will go according to EBMUD. Water at the surface remained 72 degrees and 66 at the 20 foot mark. Water clarity is good to 14 feet.
Trolling: Trout are spread out, not congregating in any one location but showing up in the River, the Narrows, the Barrel Line and the Face of the Dam. Most are hanging in 30 to 50 feet of water. Limits the rule but not quick ones. Reportedly the Trout are partial to sidekicks and worms lately along with small lures in orange and red.
No pictures again this week.
Kokanee: The Kokanee aren't feeding much so landing them has become much harder. Reports put them at 100 ft. deep and half way up the River Arm. Males are exhibiting the pronounced hooked jaw and females are full of eggs. Anything pink, hoochies, beaded spinners, Uncle Larry's along with Sep's 3.0-4.0 dodgers in watermelon, silver and green along with scented corn.
Bank Fishing: Not many on the bank this afternoon, but reports say it's been quiet again this week. Power bait balls, maggots and night crawlers get the nod from the more successful bank anglers. Hanging down from a surface bobber or floating up from the bottom on a sliding sinker, both are working well. Chartreuse, white and rainbow are the preferred power bait colors.
Cat Fish: Dropping water levels have enticed some nice sized catfish into lots of coves along the eastern banks of the lake from Mel's to Rattlesnake. Chicken livers are the most successful bait lately.
Trout Plants: The total planted by The Department of fish and Game is 3000 lbs, and Pardee Lake 57,600 lbs with more plants scheduled for the future.
