Adult steelhead are being caught on the Smith River this past week side drifting roe and a Quickie puff ball. Daily scores have been low but should improve in the coming weeks. Steelhead have averaged 8 to 12 pounds with steelhead in the high teens and low twenty pound class a real possibility on this river. Flows are high but not blown out at the time of this report. More rain is expected early this week but as of right now it is not expected to blow the river out. Steelhead are coming in mostly from plunker's and bank angler's fishing high water. Flows are still a bit high for optimum drift boating. These big rains will hopefully bring in a big push of fresh steelhead into the Smith daily. Current flows at Jed Smith gauge are 12.5 ft at the time of this report. Angler's should call ahead for current river conditions as conditions can change quickly on the Smith River.
