Adult steelhead are being caught on the Smith River this past week side drifting roe and a Quickie puff ball. Daily scores have been low but should improve in the coming weeks. Steelhead have averaged 8 to 12 pounds with steelhead in the high teens and low twenty pound class a real possibility on this river. Steelhead are being caught from both the bank or drift boats. Heavy rains are forecasted late this week with very high flows expected by this weekend. River levels are expected to reach 22 feet at Jed Smith park by this weekend. These big rains will hopefully bring in a big push of fresh steelhead into the Smith. Angler's should call ahead for current river conditions as conditions can change quickly on the Smith River.
