Yesterday we planted our first allotment of TAGGED Trout, and will continue for the next six weeks. If you catch a trout with a TAG on it, there is VALUE to the tag which needs to be redeemed in the store. A Red Tag is $100 cash and the highest value, a Blue Tag is $10 off a T-Shirt or Ballcap, a Green Tag is $5.00 off your Day Entry or Camping Fees, and a White Tag gets you a FREE ICE CREAM.
Fish & Game also stocked the lake yesterday which makes our weekly total to roughly 2,000 lbs. of Rainbows. The lake's temperature is now 60 degrees at 5′ down. That explains why a lot of Bass were caught this week. One couple caught and released 50 trout in a two day period. They were fishing across the face of the dam and up to the first point tossing plastic worms in and around the rocks.
Tom Ives caught and released a monster BASS and emailed a photo so we don't have a weight on it, it looks to be around 10 lbs. Dusty Fowler of Oroville caught a 3 lb. 4 oz. Bass from shore on a wacky worm.
David Bunting landed another huge Trout from shore using PowerBait by the dam, it weighed in at 6 lb. 5 oz. For health reasons he was unable to fish all last year but he is sure making up for lost time!! Frank & Susan Morioto from San Jose netted a 7 lb. trout along with three other nice ones while fishing the east side using PowerBait.
Team Liske from Meadow Vista (Trudy,Dave, & Eric) caught three trout limits under the power lines and hooked the lunker trout of the week, a 7 lb. 8 oz. 25-1/4″ long!! Little Hannah Milam from Marysville is pictured with a 6 lb. 4 oz. Rainbow caught off the swim beach. Croix & Gordon hooked a 4 lb. trout in Elmer's Cove.
Madlynn Baker & Nancy Stapp trolled lures and took home two trout limits AGAIN!! There is no stopping these two ladies, they are on a roll......The Lemp Family ended up taking 6 Rainbows home, caught from the sand beach on PowerBait. Nicholas Braden of West Sac. tossed a Panther Martin lure from shore and was surprised when he reeled in a huge 4 lb. trout.
Ricky & Gail Adams from Yuba City only caught two trout, but their monster on their stringer was 7 lb. 4 oz. and they trolled under the power line with a broken back shad. Elvis Avilles & Sydney Stehr caught two trout over two pounds each fishing by the dam using PowerBait.
Hunter Zinkl from Sonoma County Harvesters hooked a big 6 lb. 5 oz. Rainbow on green PowerBait while his fishing partner Shelly Coreen netted a 3 pound trout! James & Nick Palmer from Milpitas caught two trout over two pounds just south of the marina using PowerEggs. Roger, Lee & Roger from Sac. EACH caught A LIMIT of trout near Elmer's Cove on yellow PowerBait. Michelles Skyles from Marysville used worms to entice her 2 lb. 5 oz. Rainbow by the dock.

Collins LakeThis week on Tuesday we received a double trophy trout plant which of course also includes a percentage of "catchables" or pan size. I'm seeing equal amounts of trout limits that were caught from shore as well as boats. PowerBait or worms are the number one bait choices from shore. Boaters trolled with flashers and worms or such Rapalas, Kastmasters or Apex lures which showed lots of promise in this week's catches. David Bunting landed the biggest catch...... Read More

Collins LakeThis week the first of our net pens was released with approx. 1,000 pounds of trout average size (2-1/2 lbs.) Next week will be another large private plant with half of the load considered catchables and the other half closer to trophy size. This past week the fishermen said fishing was a real challenge and most of them blamed it on the full moon, saying that during those times the fish feed all night and don't appear as...... Read More
