Sacramento River salmon fishing report, Chico. Wow, its October already. The release is down to 7500 which is ok, the weather is cool,a ltiile rain now and then, the water is in good condition and there are fish in the river. Getting bites is still the hard part except for the snaggers, I mean jiggers which is a disgusting act and it is unfortunate I had to wittness it on this part of the river. Hard working fishermen with integrity are picking up a fish or two on plugs and roe. Most of the fish are dark with a few fresh ones now and then. These darker fish should be moving up river to the barge hole soon and we will get fresh fish from the end of October through December. Just say no to jiggs, its worse than crack cocain.
