Last week and last weekend produced a lot of trout but this week's
fishermen are having a little more of a challenge catching them from
shore. Trollers seem to do just fine using downriggers but if you're
boat isn't set up that way the best chance is fishing off the bottom
with PowerBait while anchored in deeper water or just drifting near the
channel.
Selim & Sayeda with the help of Probhat Palma caught the biggest trout this week, it weighed 9 Pounds!! They caught many more trout as well and are now considered (experts) at trout fishing!! They were in a boat fishing off the bottom with Powerbait in the deep end of the lake near the dam.
We now have the 3rd generation Zaski (baby girl Makaylin) being introduced to fishing at Collins Lake. Her Grandpa Dave Zaski and her Daddy have caught many fish over the years mostly Crappie and Catfish which they love to cook up for our staff!
Two days in a row Madison & Kathleen trolled nightcrawlers and flashers by the dam and hooked lots of trout.
Dominic Perez dominated the picture board, catching trout, bass, and bluegill during his stay with us! Brittany & Mason took two limits of trout which they caught trolling with worms and flashers and Mason caught his 1st Fish Ever! Congrats to Alex Florez who also caught his 1st Fish Ever!
Catfish galore this week, including an 8 lb. 8 oz. caught by Choputa of Santa Rosa. Sam Briefman caught three Cats using a jig. Mathew and Brian from Vallejo landed a 5 pounder towards the bridge on a nightcrawler. Cameron Johnson's Cat weighed in at 6 lb. 8 oz. he was using PowerBait. Mersayez & Uriah used worms by the bridge and their Cat was 4 lb. 4 oz. Bobby Franks & Christie caught a 4 lb. 8 oz. and a 3 lb. Cat by the boat launch on worms. Art Taylor from Antelope said his was too big for our fish scale, he caught his Cat trolling with worms. Bob Brolliar from Vallejo hooked his Cat near the bridge on PowerBait.
