WEEKLY WEATHER
North & South Shore
Weather is expected to be sunny and breezy this week. High temperatures will reach the mid 70's all week long, but don't forget to bring a jacket for those chilly morn-ing temperatures!
What's Going on at the lake this week?
Water temperatures at the launch ramps is holding at about 65 degrees. Trout are currently hanging out at about 30 to 35 feet down and more and more anglers are catching them! Trout are expected to come up closer to the sur-face of the lake as the weather cools down and the lake turns over. Last year the lake turned over during the first week of December.
Word at the pond is that crappie jigs and Panther Martin spinners are the bait of choice. Eric Johnson, pictured on the right caught these 4 trout near the sur-face of the trout pond on Tuesday afternoon. His biggest fish weighed about 6 lbs. and the smallest weighed about 3 lbs. Eric says that the fishermen who were fishing from the mid-dle of the pond in waders, boats or float tubes were having much better luck than the anglers who were trying to fish from shore.
TROUT PLANTS AT LAKE CAMANCHE
All of you anglers who have been patiently waiting for trout to be planted do not have to wait any longer! Grab that fishing gear and head to the lake...the trout are finally here! This week we brought in 3,000 pounds of Rainbow Trout from Mt. Lassen Trout Farm. These trout range in size from 1 pound to 8 pounds and 5% of each plant is guaranteed to be trophy size- meaning that the fish are 3 or more pounds! This week we planted 1,200 pounds at South Shore, 1,200 pounds at North Shore, and 600 pounds at the Trout Pond. We will continue planting fish each week from now until May.
