High 80's through the weekend with a cooling trend at least through Friday. Mild breezes and the possibility of some thunder showers in the foothills.

The bank fishing has been slow all week, the hot weather has kept most everyone home in the shade or under an air conditioning vent. There are some anglers working the banks this morning now that the temperatures are cooler and there was also a plant this morning which should improve the action all around the Recreation Area. Most folks are working the banks opposite the EBMUD boathouse and also Rainbow and Blue Herron Points. The anglers working the banks are using Power Bait (eggs or worms) with garlic and glitter. Pistol Pete's and Mouse (mice) Tails, in addition pink Power Worms and night crawlers on a water bobber have been successful lately.

Kokanee fishing has been decent. Upriver near Indian Rock has been the best lately at the 65' level. The lures and equipment are still the same but depths have changed. Kokanee continue to be caught in this vicinity, most if not all in the 10 to13 inch range. The extreme temperatures during the week also kept most Trollers at home as well. The few that braved the elements kept to the areas way upriver where there is some shade and cooler water. Uncle Larry's copper pops and pinkie along with wedding rings, apex and sling blades behind silver/gold or watermelon dodgers. Check at the Marina for all your fishing supplies, snacks, updated fishing information and hot spots.

Recent success stories: John Preston, pictured of South Lake Tahoe got this great stringer of Red Ear Blue Gill the largest at 1.5 lbs. He used red worms and worked many coves all along the Lake shore. Although we all know these fish are abundant in this Lake we seldom see anyone catch them-nice to see them show up again. Congratulations John-well done!!!
Look for catfish in the River arm and the southern coves, sounds like they have begun to move into the coves that are warming up from Mel's cove to Rattlesnake. Chicken livers Power Bait and night crawlers are the baits of choice. Water level has risen to 2 to 4 feet from spillway and is holding steady. Water temperature is 64 degrees at 20 feet and 68 degrees at surface as measured in the Marina. Water clarity is good to 17' plus in the Marina. Pardee Lake Recreation has planted a total of 25,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout as of this report. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has also planted 2,000 lbs. of Trout to date for a grand total of 27,000 lbs.
