LAKE NEWS
We have a new Largemouth Bass lake record! On Jan 26, 2013, Lonnie Owen, Sr. of Galt (see photo at the top) caught a 15.2 lb largemouth bass in the main body of the lake while using a swim bait toad thrasher. This monster fish was 28" long and had a 25" girth and was released back in to the lake. Last record was July 27, 2010 by Yolk Chu with a 15.0 lb bass.
FISH PLANTS
Mt. Lassen Trout delivered 600 lbs to the South shore pond and 600 lbs to the North shore on Monday, January 21st.
FISHING REPORT
Sudden changes in weather seem to have the trout confused and less active then what would be expected this time of the year. Anglers are still catching trout but tend to catch that single large fish rather than catching limits. Baits of choice are still rainbow and chartreuse power baits with or without glitter and/or garlic as well as night crawlers and power eggs.
Kenneth F. of Fiddlettown caught a 6.92 lb trout off the North Shore Day Use Point on Jan. 27th while bank fishing with power eggs. Congratulations to Lonnie Owen Sr. of Galt for his lake record largemouth bass weighing in at a whopping 15.2 lbs! He was fishing on the main lake with a swim bait toad thrasher and after many pictures, released it back in to the lake. See more pictures posted on our Facebook page.
