A little cooler for the holiday weekend, look for clear skies and gentle breezes for next week.

The water level is just about the same as last report and is about three or four feet below spill and holding. Visibility remains good, presently good to 15 feet plus at the Marina. Water temperatures are constant and are currently 68 degrees at the 20 foot mark and 73 at surface at the Marina.

Trollers continue to concentrate in the River Arm around Twin Coves, Deer Island, Indian Head Rock and Columbia Gulch. The Kokanee are deeper lately looking for the cooler thermo planes, try 75 to 110 feet. Anglers continue to catch Kokanee up the River Arm, some have begun to show some early stage signs of turning, and they are losing some scales and are a not quite as firm. Trout fishing has also been better upstream but not quite as deep, look for them at 25 to 50 feet. Some continue to do well with Thomas buoyant lures in gold/red, rainbow and fire tiger behind a sling blade or dodger. Trout are showing up at the face of the Dam but are most commonly being found and caught in the River Arm. Hot lures for Kokanee are hoochies, Uncle Larry's glow pink fire tiger, copper popsicles and desert fire lures along with Apex lures in all colors some tipped with scented corn or a piece of crawler behind a medium silver/blue or watermelon Sep's or Lance's dodger.

Fishing has improved in the Recreation Area again since the last plant; saw some caught right off Tom Sawyer Island this morning. Rainbow point and the bank behind The EBMUD boathouse have also been good spots lately. White Power bait continues to be hot ticket for Trout.

Recent success stories: Duane Mongerson, pictured of Oakland got this 6.19 lb. German Brown in the River Arm using a Midge Wobbler. German Browns are not unusual here but this late in the season they have usually stopped biting. Congratulations Duane-excellent job!

Recent reports confirm that the late afternoon and early evening at the Mud Hole and Tom Sawyer Bridge have been very productive for nice cats in the 2 to 5 pound range using chicken livers and crawlers.

Pardee Lake Recreation has planted a total of 33,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout in combination with the Department of Fish and Game plants of 5,000 for a grand total of 38,000 lbs.
