Things are looking good up at Lake Almanor, reported Doug Neal at Almanor Fishing Adventures. "The Lake Almanor bite has been holding at the excellent level all week", noted Neal. "Good areas include the west shore, Prattville, Almanor West, Goose Bay, and Airport Flats.

"Rainbows up to three pounds have been aggressive early, and browns in the two pound range have showed up closer to mid-morning. We trolled fluorescent and chartreuse Rainbow Runners and gold Pro Secrets at four to six feet early, then dropping down to no deeper than 14 feet by late morning..

"The salmon bite is starting at the Snag. We picked up a few 22-inch kings out of that hole before the south wind started. The bass bite has also taken off, because of the warning water. Several four-pound smallies, and one whopper of 4.7 pounds was hooked from shore near the causeway. Most are caught near the North Shore Campgrounds, Goose Bay shallows, and rocky points along the east shore.
