I enjoy writing reports like today's.?? You see, we could cover the whole thing in just one short paragraph. I won't, mind you, because I almost always have a lot to say. But, I could. In a few words?Ķ Come fish Clear Lake and have FUN!

The bass bite is wide open.?? Spinner baits and soft plastics have been the top two choices. For the spinner baits ??? bright colors have been the key. (White with Chartreuse or White with Red have been our best sellers.) For soft plastics ??? any of the darker colors (Watermelon, root beer, or June bug all with red or gold sparkle) have been tops. Anglers are reporting fishing success all around the lake and in a variety of depths from 5 feet to 20 feet. The water temperature has been in the low 70's and our winds have calmed from a week ago.

Bluegill are starting to show a return after a noticeable absence over the last month and a half or so. Crappie anglers are reporting that the bite is sporadic. Some crappie are being caught under docks (in the shade) during the heat of the day. Others, like Tony at Indian Beach Resort, are reporting good fishing in the evening hours with crappie averaging 1 to 2 pounds.

The catfish are eating well. Mackerel, anchovies, minnows, shrimp, nightcrawlers - you name it.?? With the winds calming down boaters should be able to catch a good drift.?? (Finally!) Shore anglers along Cache Creek continue to do quite well while others, like those fishing Redbud Park, are catching a mixed bag.

The Lake Friends of the NRA cordially invite you to attend the 1st Annual NRA Fund Raiser Dinner & Auction. The event is being held in Clearlake on July 7th at the Masonic Lodge (near Wal-Mart). The prime rib dinner will be catered by Porter Street BBQ of Middletown. Come and enjoy the live auction, silent auctions, and special drawings. (Not to mention the delicious food!) We have a great selection of limited edition firearms, custom knives, and art prints. Tickets are $50 each. Sponsor packages are available starting at just $350. Our Early Bird special gets you $40 in Special Drawing tickets when you buy your dinner ticket before June 17th!?? Stop by the bait shop for a preview of many of the firearms that will be at the dinner ??? they're spectacular! We've also got tickets and information available here in the shop for you. Not an NRA member? Not a problem! Sign up or renew your membership right at the dinner. I hope you'll join us for this fun and worthwhile benefit event.
