Lake level is the highest I have seen it in a long time, the Staff at the Marina reports it's been going over the spill for a couple of days. Current water temperatures are 59 degrees at 20 feet and 67 at surface look for these temps stay fairly constant in the near future. Water clarity is good to 15 feet.
Bank Fishing - Bank fishing has been good behind the EBAY boathouse and in the cove behind the Marina in front of the Maintenance building. The planters usually end up in the cove behind the Marina, Blue Herron Point, and the parking lot bank behind TomSawyerIsland, the Island itself and the Launch Ramp. Night crawlers, pink power worms and green power bait are the hot baits, with wooly boogers and Kastmasters good right after the plant. Silver/blue Kastmasters have been very hot lately.
Trolling - Trolling for Trout remains good, depths (10-30 feet) and baits remain unchanged cool water temperatures are keeping the fish in shallow water generally. Trollers are still flat lining, using 3 to 4 colors of lead core or drift fishing the River starting at the Mouth and going up as far as Indian Rock. Kokanee are plentiful, small but chubby. Try the River arm and near Twin Coves. Limits of 10 to 12 inch Kokes are plentiful and quick; they have dropped down a little and are now at 40 to 50 feet. Small spoon or needlefish type lures in pink or florescent orange/red tipped with a night crawler, grub or power worm behind small flashers, dodgers or sidekicks in silver/green work well. Kokanee still prefer scented white corn.
Cat Fish - Cats continue to prowl in the coves at the extreme South end of the Lake. Chicken liver and power bait has been working well.
Recent success stories - NewLake record German Brown, 15.36 lbs was caught by Chris Haris of Sacramento. Chris was dragging an Uncle Larry's pink fire tiger lure behind a Sep's fruit salad dodger in 30 feet of water at the Dam when he landed this beautiful specimen. Congratulations Chris-well done! This has been the best season for Browns I can remember.
Up coming events - Pardee Lake Annual Kids Fishing Derby-Saturday, June 26th, 2010-9am to Noon. Two Grand Prizes (2) $250 cash prizes for the "Whopper Fish". A hot dog lunch with chips and a drink will follow the Derby for $3. There is no charge to participate in the derby; however there is a $4 day use pass to enter the Park.
California Department of Fish and Game has planted 3000 lbs of fish in addition Pardee Lake Inc has planted 36,000 lbs of trout as of today with more plants scheduled.
