Los Vaqueros Reservoir - Livermore, CA (Contra Costa County)

Paul Clouse and Al Hurwitz trolled Los Vaqueros Reservoir on 11/7/24, looking for Striped Bass and Rainbow Trout. We caught 5 fish, including 3 Stripers, 1 Largemouth Bass, and 1 Rainbow Trout. One big Striper spit the hook, and there were other bites as well, Below are pictured the two largest Striped Bass, weighing 4.2, and 3.5 pounds, measuring 22 and 21.5 inches in length. The fish were caught on Jointed Floating Rapalas and a Jointed Husky Jerk Rapala, all lures flat-line-trolled 6-8 feet below the surface. Trolling speed was around 2.0-2.3 mph. We applied scent liberally to the lures. All the fish were released.
The reservoir is essentially full with very clear water and with a surface temperature of around 63.5 degrees.
Waiting to catch more Trout as the aggressive stocking program continues.
We appreciate all of the Los Vaqueros staff for all their help in getting us on and off the water.
See you soon,
Paul Clouse, Lafayette

We trolled a wide variety of lures, including an umbrella rig, Rapala DT hard baits, Mepps feathered spinners, and RoxStar and Joe’s Flies feathered...... Read More
