Head north if you dare to dance with the unmarked rock piles & catch fish! Can't see bottom in 4ft of water, so unless you know it, I don't advise it. It's a 6 mile tow back to the ramp. Lots of submerged rock piles & navonics doesnt have a lot of em from miners rock pile north. But, we all had to learn it the hard way! Lol. Topline & trolling flies. Colors vary from day to day but keep an orange, cinnamon or dark brown & find the color of the day. All around best can do some damage on foggy or overcast days. There's been days they haven't moved in close & tight till 9am but holding in 12-20ft. But they are there. Channel between slough & miners points is also holding fish. South depths aren't producing much since we hit 60-62F and lower just gets more moving north, which is quite normal for our migrating trout in fall. They all come back to the depths & warmer water once water temps up north drop below 47F. But the trout are moving around & foraging. Generally Eagle’s Nest to Black Mountain hold resident trout as well as pikes point. But we aren't going too deep. This is the time of year we can see the dying algae begin to stain the water from greener to brown & that can change the color the fish see. Also weedy time of year. Locations of weeds & algae's change daily with the winds & currents. Low ambient temps up north as low as 30F which is 4-5F lower than 10 days ago. Fog on the pond in mornings will also keep us company. Winds are our friend in fog months. Once ambient temps drop, the fog layer (usually compressed to a 10ft thick layer over the warmer water) doesn't lift until 11am-1pm come Nov/dec. But that's our normal! Keep all your hooks sharpened up...& keep your losses down!!
