Lake Del Valle Fishing Report

Another good day on Lake Del Valle targeting Smallies but had to work a bit harder to find the fish.  Trolling Joe’s Flies and Panther Martin Sonic Steamers at a depth 20’ to 23’ using lead core line and fluorocarbon leader I managed to land and safely release five Smallies and one Striper.  The Smallies ranged in weight from 3/4# to 2.0# with the largest in photo below.  The fish were very scattered and it took a while before the first fish was landed.  All fish were caught on the eastern shoreline from Swallow Bay to Heron Bay.  The surface water temperature increased a few degrees over last week running 73’ to 74’.  The water clarity was best toward the north end of the lake and the water level had dropped approximately five feet since last Thursday.  There were numerous Striper boils cited in the early morning.

A special thanks to the marine staff for all the assistance in getting on and off the lake safely!
