The Summer Trout action on Shasta Lake has been nothing short of outstanding. All summer the lake has been producing 3 to 6 pound Brown or Rainbow Trout. Occasionally, my clients have landed a few under 3 pounds but we are talking mid to high 2 pounders. We have also landed our fair share of 6 to 9 pound pounders, 9 pounds (Brown) having been the biggest so far . These Trout have been feeding heavily on threadfin shad, some of which have been upwards of 5 to 6 inches in length. This diet has produced fat hard fighting fish that are a blast to catch and wonderful eating. Literally, all of the Trout have had beautiful orange/red meat fantastic for BBQ, fry pan or smoker.

This weekend my guys landed Browns and Rainbows between 2 pounds, 10 ounces and 4 pound 10 ounces. Checkout the pictures and you can see the quality of these little eating machines.
