Water Conditions: ??Good. The river's fishability improves the further upstream one goes, with prime access from Cantara Loop down to Simms. There's been a variety of different hatches, including several species of Mayflies, and some decent caddis hatches in the evening, but the most productive fishing has been with nymph patterns (Pheasant Tails, Prince Nymphs, and even some bigger stoneflies) and lots of weight, dredging some of the deep, slow pools. We have been seeing a few big stoneflies flying around, and a few fish have been tempted to rise to big stimulator patterns.

Fishing Conditions & Hatches: Nymphing P.T's, Red Copper Johns, Prince Nymphs, and Golden Stonefly patterns in the slower-moving pools with lots of way is going to be the best bet this time of year.

Flies: ??Best flies lately: GB Pheasant Tail Nymphs #16-18; Micro Mayfly Olice #16-18; Red Copper John #16; Black Zebra Midge #18; Parachute Adams #14-16. Gidget #18, brown or olive* Prince #14-16* Dark Lord #14-16 * Mercer's Micro-Mayfly nymph #16* Copper Johns #14-18* Flashback PT #16 * Z-Wing grn. #16 * , Fox's Poopah! #16 Para Adams * #18, Zebra Midges #18, Tilt wing dun #20, Hare's Ears #12 to #16, Spotlight Caddis, small Stimulators.

The Fly Shop's Tips: ??With a relatively dry winter and low snow-pack, the Upper Sac should drop into fishable conditions by early or mid-May this year, just in time for some great dry fly hatches!
