Water Conditions
Conditions haven’t changed too much on the Little Truckee River from last week. The river is still running high, but fishing nicely. Flows between Boca and Stampede are consistent, only measuring slightly lower this week at 490 CFS. Water clarity is crystal clear on the Little Truckee River and the temperatures are in the mid-50s.
Tips for the Week
Since the flows are up on the Little Truckee, fish can be pushed to the sides of the river and the undercut banks, so don’t overlook those areas. Tightline nymphing seems to be the ticket for the bigger fish right now. Try using a 4x tippet on a euro setup for good results. Anglers can also try streamer fishing to seek out larger fish on the Little Truckee River.
Suggested Flies
Some fly favorites to try on the Little Truckee River this week are Burks Pale Morning Duns Hunchbacks, Parachute Pale Morning Duns, Size 18 Pheasant Tails, Green Drake Emergers, or Size 18 Zebra Midges.
