The stable weather patterns have arrived and Shasta Lake has hit its winter levels at just 5' from full pool. The lake is on the drop now but its helping to deposit the last remaining pieces of floating debris back onto the shorelines making for some excellent trolling conditions. The bite has been fantastic this past week and we should see great fishing through September looking ahead. The King salmon fishing has been very good and we're catching browns and rainbows daily now as well. The bass fishing has been good as well and some mornings we are having to weed through them to get our trout bites in there as well. The lake temps on the surface are still in the high 60's but with triple digits in the forecast I expect they will jump into the 70's this next week. The Threadfin Shad are abundant again this year and the trout and salmon are really feedingbquite good now! The Shad are definitely on the surface and that will continue until we see warmer water push them down later this month. Its already a great time to fish Shasta Lake but its just getting warmed up for the summer free for all!
If you have kids and want to introduce them to the sport of fishing, now is the time. My group of youngsters landed 22 trout/salmon yesterday and lost a bunch more fighting them at the boat. They had a blast! Best thing was, they had never caught fish before so it was an amazing introduction to lake fishing at its best. We were off the water by 10:30 so it was an easy day for them as well. We can accomodate groups of six anglers per boat and have two boats available all summer long. We've modified our rates this summer to help families get the kids out on the water without breaking the bank.
As I mentioned before, June thru September is the very best time to fish Shasta Lake for all sizes and species of trout and salmon. We fish Shasta Lake full time, 9 months of the year and catch fish every trip we run each year. Some days are slower than others but theres always fish fillets at the end of the day, especially in the summertime. Oh and did I say there is absolutely no experience required to catch fish with us? We troll for the trout/salmon in Shasta the fish basically hook themselves and all our clients have to do is reel them in. Its a very easy day and can be quite relaxing as well.
If this sounds like a fun trip sor friends or family, give Jaynie a call or text Mon-Sat at (530) 510-2925 and she'll get you all set up for a day of fishing on Shasta Lake with us. She does all the work and it just takes a few minutes to get your trip scheduled. Thank you, and we'll see you at the dock!
