The Rainbow Trout bite continues to be strong at Los Vaqueros Reservoir. Due to forecasted high winds in the afternoon my time on the water was limited to four hours however I was able to land and release five nice Lassen Rainbows ranging in weight from 1 to 2 pounds. Rapala J-9 Firetiger colored lures were flat lined in the 12’ - 18’ water column land the fish were down around 5’ from the surface. The hot spots continue to be in the back of the coves. The surface water temperature remains cool at 54.5 degrees and the water clarity is good despite all the recent stormy weather. The bait fisherman in boats were having great success landing trout using power bait and night crawlers. Headed back out to LVR next week for another great day of fishing!
