Del Valle Lake Fish Report for 11-10-2023
Bass Trip on Lake Del Valle
Del Valle Lake - Livermore, CA (Alameda County)

A tough day of fishing for Paul Clouse and Al Hurwitz who trolled Lake Del Valle on November 9, 2023. We were targeting various Bass species. Regrettably, the bite was off, perhaps due to a recent rapid 15 foot drop in the water level. We did get a few bites and caught one Smallmouth and one Largemouth Bass along the western shoreline and Swallow Bay respectively. Pictured here is Paul with a nice 1.3 pound Largemouth which exhibited a lot of fight, including a nice aerial jump. We used a variety of spinners including Panther Martins, Mepps Aglia, Joe’s Flies, and RoxStar Spinner Flies. The bites all came on the RoxStars. We liberally applied scent to the lures and customarily trolled them 20 feet below the surface in 25-40 foot water columns.
One fisherman we spoke with after our day on the water caught his limit of five Rainbow Trout while using PowerBait, fishing from a boat close to the marina.
The water was reasonably clear, particularly in the northern portion of the lake. Surface temperature varied from 61 degrees earlier in the morning , rising to 63 degrees later in the afternoon.
We’ll be back soon and try to redeem ourselves on the next outing.
Best regards,
Paul Clouse, Lafayette
Dr. Al Hurwitz, Saratoga
