Castaic remained at 93 percent of capacity, and water temperatures dropped into the lower seventies. Anglers reported good fishing with an uptick in feeding activity. Boiling bass and striper fed on shad and silverside minnows in coves around the lake. Most of the surface action tapered off by 9 AM. Poppers, walking baits, spoons, and Flukes all worked to fool the one-to-three-pound fish. After the bass went deep anglers used wacky rigged weightless stick baits, drop shot, and shaky heads to land good-sized large and smallmouth. Dark green, grey, and light purple all worked for bites in 5 to 20 feet of water. Striped bass took trolled flies, and A-rigs until they returned to surface feeding in the late afternoons. Catfish anglers reported fair results along the dam while using dip bait, chicken liver, and cut baits.
