On the Little Truckee River, the conditions are good for this time of the year. Cold water is flowing out from the bottom of the stampede reservoir dam at about 111 CFS and clarity is good. Anglers can expect some afternoon hatches of pale morning duns, midges and caddis on the Little Truckee River.
Tips for the Week
During these warmer months, the fish on the Little Truckee River are looking for the faster water which contains more oxygen. Dry flies on light tippet down to 6x with midges and small mayflies seem to be on the menu. Use tiny strike indicators or light tightline nymph setups with a bit of stealth because the fish are easily spooked this time of year.
Suggested Flies
Some suggested flies to try on the Little Truckee River this week are Size 20 zebra midge, mighty mayfly 18, parachute pale morning dun size 18, x caddis size 18
