Water Conditions
The Little Truckee River is low in water levels, but the cold tailwater of this river provides a lot of oxygen for the fish. The river is flowing around 40 cubic feet per second between Stampede and Boca. Water is very low above Stampede reservoir, but look for this flow to increase next month for the Kokanee spawn.
Tips for the Week
With the water being so low this time of the year, fishing a hopper dropper is the most popular technique because it keeps the nymph off the bottom of the algae. Also, using a large grasshopper by itself is a fun way to cover a lot of water fast.
Suggested Flies
Top secret hopper, the BC hopper, green zebra midges, eagens rainbows worriers and a small pheasant tail
