This week the Upper Kern flows were just under 100 CFS and the water clarity is improving. The trout bite is fair at best for both holdovers and natives. Anglers have had better action near Johnsondale bridge with Native trout coming on worms and spinners. The Lower Kern Bass bite remains very good. Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass have been going for Get Bent Baits, Roostertails and small crankbaits. Fly anglers reported an excellent bass bite in some of the deeper pools with a variety of fly offerings. Catfish are being caught with nightcrawlers, chicken liver and cutbait. At the time of reporting, the Upper Kern River at Kernville was flowing at 95 CFS and the Lower Kern River was flowing at 240 CFS.
