We're closing in on the beginning of the best part of the Sacramento River King salmon season, but we're not quite there yet!  We've had plenty of tough bite days but we've had some descent days on the river too.  The salmon we are catching are big and beautiful!  Water conditions in the Anderson/Cottonwood areas are favorable with good color and temps in the 55-56 degree range most days.  There has been a lot of aquatic grass in the water and thats been a pain but its almost normal anymore.  Reports of lots of salmon moving through the lower river continue and it should be just a matter of days before we see another surge of Kings in the upper river.  We have full confidence that we will have a great salmon season on the upper sections of the Sacramento River this year.  Bigger salmon are smarter salmon and they can be tough to get to bite.  We'll surely see a mix of 3-5 years olds this year from what we've seen in the ocean seasons the past few months.  I've already seen several 40+ pound Kings rolling in the river the past few weeks and when the holes here in the upper river fill with salmon, we'll be seeing some of those big salmon showing up in the river fishing reports.
