We had two boats on Shasta Lake today and we both saw the same pattern as yesterday.  Good morning bite that slowed down by 9:00 and then we saw another bite at 12:00 to finish the day.  It was super windy this morning which made it really tough to troll, but it worked out and we stayed on the fish.  Both boats stirred up some really nice rainbows for our two groups with some of the trout in the 4 lb range.  With water temps in the low 70's, the trout are still feeding in the 30'-40' range so reaching them with just about any gear is possible.  Our biggest fish came today on a side planer with a 3 oz. snap weight to get it down.  We had one small King on a Trinidad dodger/Popped Eye combo, but most of the bites came on solo Popped Eyes.  Gold is a favorite right now, but the blue/white combo has been hot as well.  Look for some changes after this extended heat we're looking at over the next few weeks.  The trout fishing will get even better, but you're going to have to chase them down as the surface temps shoot up!  Tight lines!
