Lake Shasta the bite has been good overall for numbers. You can catch alot of fish right now if you find the right schools.

The majority of fish are deeper in the 40-50 ft range, a few fish will rome shallow early in the day and move deep the rest of the day.

If your fishing deep and the bite slows down, check shallow again in the 5-25 ft range  to keep them honest. The fish have really been on a bottom bait type bite. You can catch fish on Jigs, Tubes and various plastic worms. Ive been catching good numbers of fish on the Frenzy Baits Nail a true stand up jig head. I have been using the Berkley Maxscent Hit worm in Green Pumkin and Green Pumkin with purple flake. Tubes in Old ugly and Green pumkin colors will get you bites. As far as Jigs use a 1/2 oz spider grub on a spinning rod or a 3/4 oz Spider grub on a bait caster. There has been a wacky style bait bite too, The Berkley Maxscent General has been getting alot of bites, nail weighted with a bigger neko style nail to fish in that deeper range of 25-50 ft or using the Frenzy Baits Wack a Sack weighted hook. It seems one day they are crazy for it and the next day is just tougher to get the wacky style bites. Overall fishing has been great and a 20-50 fish per day average is not uncommon. Keep moving to new spots to find active fish, points, pockets, coves are hold holding fish right now.
