Captain Justin and I fished clients on the Sacramento River today, and although we hooked several Kings per boat, the bite was definitely off. Erratic water releases from Keswick Dam continue to harrass the salmon in their environment creating them stress and an unwillingness to bite like they would under normal conditions. The Barge Hole is loaded with King salmon but getting them to bite can be a challenge with a lot of fluctuation in water levels. Pulse flows of 2,000 cfs every few days has pulled a lot of salmon up river and we're seeing hundereds of Kings swimming the deep holes in the Redding area, 10 miles above Battle Creek. There are still enough Kings available to keep our clients fighting fish, but it could certainly be better. Flow changes are scheduled to remain in fluctuation through the 22nd of October currently. I guess we'll see what happens with flow schedules after the 22nd. We're working hard for our clients and will continue to do so until salmon season closed on December 16th.
