Its no secret the Sacramento River is filling with bright salmon, but being at the right place at the right time is critical. The bite is spotty because the salmon are moving through so quickly. Here one minute and gone the next has been the case many days so far this season. Captain Justin Thompson had his clients in the right place this morning and their reward was a beautiful King salmon pictured below. Things will get more consistent as we head into the next week or two and we should see a steady stream of fish through October.
Jeff Goodwin is a full time Northern California fishing guide. He guides year round for salmon, trout, steelhead, Kokanee, and bass on Northern California rivers and lakes. He fishes many bodies of water in the Redding area, but also guides the Sacramento River and Feather River during certain times of the year. Jeff can also be found on the California coast chasing ocean fresh King salmon and steelhead each year.
