We fished Shasta Lake and the bite seemed to have slowed considerably from the day before. We caught some nice rainbows, but the borwns for the first time in weeks were off the bite. We got caught on the lake with a 10,000 cfs increase flowing out of Shasta Dam. Flows out of Shasta are hovering around 30,000 cfs now due to the fact the lake is nearly full. After tonights torrential down pour and massive hail storm, I'm sure they will be ramping up flows again in the days to come. We saw a lot of water coming down tonight here in Redding and I'm sure it was even worse up in the foothills. The good new is we are looking ahead and seeing a warming trend by early next week. That should start to settle things down a bit on Shasta Lake. Unfortunately, I think its going to be a while before the river below Red Bluff settles down and its quite possible we will be pushing our Striper trips into the latter half of the month or quite possibly into May, Time will tell...
