Wow, what a winter! After years of drought, plenty of winter snow and rain has filled lakes and streams, with more to come from the deep mountain snowpack. It's just what we needed!
All that water filled the California Delta, and the rivers that feed into it. You know what that means? It's Striper Time!
With the ongoing rains, the river is a little high and muddy right now, but that's a good thing.
When the water is low and clear, stripers are cautious about making their way upstream, but when it's high and muddy like right now, they head up in big schools.
As the water drops and clears over the next week or so, striper fishing should bust wide open. Many stripers are already here, and ready to go. It should be another awesome season!
Ah, spring - it's a favorite time of year. Plants are blooming, bees are buzzing, turkeys are gobbling, and the sun is warming up the northern hemisphere once again. All God's critters are getting re-energized after a long, rainy winter.
And that includes the stripers!
It's a favorite family trip too, with lots of action for the kids and great eating afterwards.
Fish On!
