Water Conditions: Blown Out, flows at 3000 cfs out of Iron Gate.

Fishing Conditions & Hatches: When the flows drop there should still be some steelhead around in the upper parts of the river near Iron Gate. Take lots of egg patterns with you, as they typically are big producers in the winter, shrimp pink and steelhead orange are the most popular colors. For other bugs: Poxyback Hare's Ears #8, Schaefer's 3-D nymphs #8, and Black Rubberlegs Stoneflies.

Flies: Prince #8-16 * PT nymphs #12-16 * Silver Hiltons * Mossbacks * Dark Stone Nymphs * Gold Bead Assassins *Black Rubberlegs * Fox's Poopah - olive or cinnamon, Copper Johns. Big birds nests.

The Fly Shop's Tips: Dress warm and wear many layers. When it's that cold up there, the fish can be lethargic in the mornings, so there's no rush to get on the water early. Wait until the sun starts to warm things up a little, and that should get the fish moving, too.
