GENERAL CONDITIONS
The weather this week has been beautiful here at Lake Del Valle, average temperatures are in the mid-70s with peak temps in the low-80s. The surface temperature is still sitting at 70 degrees this week. The hot bite this week is still catfish with many anglers hooking up.
CATFISH
Catfish are your best bet to catch fish right now. Most anglers are using either anchovies, chicken liver or nightcrawlers as bait. Most of the catfish have been caught in the lower and upper narrows. Make sure you find cover in the water (fallen trees, weed beds, rock walls)
BLACK BASS
Black Bass are a good target this time of year, most anglers like to use soft plastics (swim baits, robo worms, senkos, etc.) I would also recommend using either a crank bait or a top water lure (heddon spook, pencil poppers, etc.) Look for fallen trees, rocky points and tule patches.
STRIPED BASS
Stripers have started warming up, I've had many anglers this weekend come back saying the saw a lot of striper boils but didn't have time to catch up and cast at them. If you happen to pull up on a boil I would recommend using either a top water lure (spooks, gunfish, pencil poppers, etc.) or about a 4-inch paddle tail swimbait. Most stripers have been seen in the upper narrows and out towards the dam.
