When this latest series of rain storms end this weekend look for the upper reaches of the Trinity River to become fishable very soon, maybe as early as Sunday or Monday. As the river clears, expect some outstanding steelheading opportunities.

Todd LeBoeuf of Tiger T's Guide Service has been putting clients on some outstanding steelhead this season and in between storm systems has been scoring well on some big steel.

On January 30, Jeff Sabers enticed a 15 lb steelhead to the net using a lure near Junction City. (Pictured above)

On January 27, Reg Browne landed a 10 lb steelhead on a fly in the Douglas City area.

This season Todd has put clients on 14 chromers 10 pounds and over, my 11 pounder in October included.

While there are closures along Highway 299 in the Big French Creek area due to slides, there is plenty of accessible river east of that point, and there are and will be, plenty of fresh run steelhead to be had.

With many of the valley rivers completely blown out, and with high water releases from the lakes as they make room for spring runoff likely to continue high murky flows, there are few options available for river anglers in the area. If you would like a chance at some of these great hard fighting sea-run rainbows, give Todd a call at 530-222-2728 or visit tigertsguideservice.com.
