The staff at Loch Lomond is expecting another trout plant today. Since the last plant, fishing has slowed somewhat though they are still seeing partial stringers on a daily basis. Fish being caught are a mix of planter trout and larger holdovers from last year. According to Ranger Judie Cole, the bass fishing is "not too bad" at the lake, with largemouth ranging from two to 11 pounds caught and released this week.

Bass anglers might consider Pinto Lake in Watsonville for local largemouth action as well. Kayak angler Deva Mercado has visited the lake a couple times this season for mixed results, but says bass in the 3-6-pound range are not uncommon at Pinto. Mercado uses a variety of lures for these fish, and his latest hits were generated using Senko worms. Large bass do inhabit this lake, as evidenced by the 13-pound monster caught "right off the dock" last year by an angler using a swimbait.
