GENERAL CONDITIONS

Fish are on fire up here at the lake. From Striped bass to Trout and Catfish. On Oct 18th CDFW planted 2500 lbs at the public launch and Mt. Lassen planted another 750 lbs on Oct. 19th. So that is almost 4000 lbs of trout dumped in two days! Those trout that came off the truck come on the bite within a day or two so fishing should pick up. Powerbait and Kastmasters are the choice for trout but, a worm under a bobber can be very productive as well!

CATFISH

Catfish are also on the bite eating up mackerel and anchovies next to weed beds and trees. Catfish are still prowling around the weed beds, trees and drop offs. Catfish are still eating bait like anchovies and mackerel.

TROUT

Anglers are catching trout on a variety of lures from a simple worm under a bobber to spinners like rooster tails and panther martins. The most effective being a 1/4 oz silver kastmaster.

BASS

Large and Smallmouth bass are eating flukes and swim jigs along with chatter baits and top water. Smallmouth have been feeding with the stripers in the shad boils.

STRIPED BASS

Striped Bass are eating bait and hitting shad lures. Topwater, Jerkbaits and frozen bait have been the choice for Stripers this week.
