The inland salmon fishing season opened recently without much fanfare. I did mention that fish were in the system, because they are showing up in the Feather River and the upper reaches of the Sacramento River. Now comes the good news! yes, the salmon are showing in the Freeport area where anglers are taking some good fish in the 20 pound range trolling single and double bladed Silvertron spinners while shorelines are tossing flying C’s. The action isn’t fast, but the fish are receptive even during these warm water periods. At least this is the beginning to what could be a banner season for inland salmon fishing. The salmon fishing will only get better as we move into the months of August and September. stay tuned for periodic updates on the salmon fishing scene.
