GENERAL CONDITIONS
Help support the East Bay Regional Parks Foundations by participating in the Lake Chabot 50th Year Anniversary Trout Derby. We are hosting a trout derby for the month of June for the top three biggest fish. Tickets are $5 dollars (available for purchase at the Lake Chabot Marina), and will benefit the Regional Parks Foundation. A Catfish derby will begin July 1st.
Water temperature remains in the mid 70’s and water clarity is about 4 feet visibility. The visibility of the water should clear up in the next couple of days depending on the weather.
All of the rental boats at the marina are half off Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday!
CATFISH
Catfishing is starting to heat up. The first dock on the west shore trail is the place to be for catfish either early morning on just before sunset. Mackerel has been doing the trick to catch catfish this week.
TROUT
Trout fishing is still keeping some anglers busy this time of the year. Several limits were reported getting caught early morning on the east shore trials from Indian Cove to Raccoon Point but as the water warms up, trout fishing will slow down. When trolling for trout play around with some weights about a foot from the lure. Fishing near the shore near across from Raccoon point and back by the dam should do the trick to pull them out. Please follow our Facebook page to keep updated on fishing conditions.
BASS
With the warm weather we are expecting this upcoming week, bass fishing should be great. Bass fishing already has been steady for the last several weeks with some bass anglers catching and releasing good numbers. If you do want to try your luck a couple good spots to fish for bass are near the island or in bass cove using a drop shot rig. Please practice catch and release for bass, as they are not stocked into the lake and their population depends on you!
