On Saturday, June 4th 2016 Kokanee Power will be holding a Kokanee fishing derby on Whiskeytown Lake. This is a first time Kokanee fishing tournament on Whiskeytown Lake and is stirring a lot of interest in the area and as well with Kokanee Power members. Whiskeytown Lake is experiencing very good crop of Kokanee this year and fishing has been excellent. Kokanee are averaging 12"-13" and some in the 16" size have been caught already early in the season. This should make for a very exciting tournament for all the anglers who participate, and with only the best 3 fish in the team boat being weighed in, the margins should be very close.
Friday evening at 6:30 pm, the Redding Sportsmans Warehouse will be hosting a Kokanee seminar/briefing held by Anthony Cox of AC Guide Service. Anthony is a whiskey town Guide and will be going over the logistics of launching and fishing Whiskeytown Lake for those anglers who have not yet fished there. Not only will this be a chance to get some insider information, and be able to ask Anthony some questions, but everyone will have a chance to pick up some last minute items, and tackle for the derby. The deadline for online, by telephone, or in person registration, will be June 3rd.
There are many hotels available in Redding for lodging, namely the Best Western, and the Red Lion Inn. Camping and RV space will be also available at Brandy Creek and Oak Bottom Camp Grounds by reservation by calling 877-444-6777. There is a lot more information and details available regarding the Kokanee Power Tournament by calling 888-744-8150, or by email at info@kokaneepower.org.
Once again, this is a first time Kokanee Power Tournament on Whiskeytown Lake and will be one of the best tournaments of the season I'm sure. Gear up and get out there and be a part of this tournament, you may just end up being the winner of the $600.00 prize for 1st place team!
