General Information: Real steelhead weather has finally set in, with cold rain and chances of snow in the forecast for the weekend and all next week. The rains have finally moved the hordes of fish (and anglers) out of the junction city area, spreading everything out. Fishing has been good. Still crowded, but the nasty weather will hopefully start to keep the fair-weather folks at home.
Fishing Conditions & Hatches: Flows are at 300 cfs, and the river is VERY crowded. If you like to fish alone, go somewhere else. If you choose to brave the crowds, try to smile. Good luck.
Flies:
?Ģ Red Copper Johns #12-16
?Ģ Blue Copper Johns # 12-16
?Ģ Mercer's GB Biot Poxyback Stonefly #8-12
Mercer's Poxyback Hare's Ear #10-14
?Ģ Schaefer 3-D Nymph; #10-12
?Ģ MC Redd Reaper Pink/Orange and Gold Nugget
?Ģ Micro Spawn: Shrimp Pink and Orange
The Fly Shop's Tips: ??If you like to fish alone, we'd recommend steering clear of the Trinity during October and November. The steelhead fishing will most likely be great, but you can expect to see lots of anglers, both wading and drifting. Fortunately, the cold winter months of December, January, and February, will send most of the fair-weather anglers home, leaving the river (and it's wild winter-run steelhead) to the die-hards.
