The days are still pretty warm with a cool breeze at times and we are definitely above the fog. This morning we had 3 fishing boats go in early and hopefully I will be able to update their information by tomorrow. It's been a slow week for fishermen due to the rain and fog but I can assure you that if it's foggy where you are, it's sunny here! Kelly said some fishermen who didn't name themselves stopped by to let us know that the Bass were hitting really good yesterday 12/9. Most of them were "keeper size" or a little bigger than 12" (keeper size for Collins Lake). They used rubberworms and they caught and released all day. Jerry Hawkins and Brian Steele used Nightcrawlers and caught 3 real nice trout from the shoreline on Tuesday last week, just before the rain. I know that after a good rain like we had you want to go Catfishing. They love the rain and especially the food washed into the lake after a good rain.

It looks like our baby Trout hatch is not coming this week after all, we are still waiting to hear from Fish & Game who generously donates them to us can fit us in their schedule. As soon as I get the news, you will too. Feel free to just show up on our plant day to help if you'd like after I get the info to you.

During the winter months we move the second marina (from the sand beach area) across the lake near the dam. This is primarily so we don't have to move it up and down as the lake fluctuates. We still have the main boat dock in the campground and that's where the boat rental are from now until spring time. To rent a boat you would pay for it at the store and pick up the equipment at the same time then drive down to the dock and park at the dock while you are out on the lake.!

With the lake 54'' down, we are just at the end of the main boat launching ramp, but we have an alternate ramp located by the dam which is still very convenient to use. This ramp is usable by 2 wheel drive trucks and motorhomes. There is a courtesy dock at this alternate ramp. Ask for directions when you arrive at the entry station to this alternate ramp. If your motorhome is very large, we will offer free launching assistance if you would prefer.

The weather has been picture perfect this week but only a few fishermen ventured outdoors. The lake is down, (which bring the fish closer together by the way) and the weather is perfect for fishing, so come on out and try it!! The lake temperature has finally dipped way down to 54 degrees. This is the proof that the lake has "turned" and fish are at all depths now. Dave Schultz was a shore fisherman that picked up a trout...... Read More
